  1. Bring the milk to a gentle boil in a small saucepan. Add the kaniwa flakes, cinnamon, peanut butter, and salt.
  2. Reduce the heat and cook for about two to three minutes, stirring frequently.
  3. Remove from the heat. Let the porridge stand for two to three minutes while you prepare the topping.
  4. Melt the butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the banana slices and cook without moving them for one to two minutes, or until golden underneath.
  5. Carefully flip the banana slices. Add the dates and cook for another minute or two, gently turning the dates and spooning the melted butter over the fruit.
  6. Transfer the porridge to a bowl and top with the warm banana, dates, and any butter remaining in the skillet. Drizzle with a little maple syrup, if desired.
