El extraordinario Cacao

Historia y tradición

Archaeological evidence shows that cacao was used in present-day Ecuador at least 5,300 years ago. From the upper Amazon, it spread through ancient trade routes and became deeply rooted in the culinary and ceremonial traditions of the Americas.

Nutrientes y compuestos

Cacao provides fiber, iron, magnesium, copper, and other essential nutrients. It is particularly rich in antioxidant flavonoids and also contains theobromine, a natural compound that contributes to its mood- and energy-enhancing properties.

Versatilidad culinaria

Cacao beans can be fermented, dried, roasted, and transformed into nibs, powder, paste, cacao butter, and chocolate. Their deep, slightly bitter flavor complements beverages, smoothies, baked and no-bake treats, snacks, and savory dishes.
